China is a wonderful country with a rich heritage that has given so much to our world... a diverse country with lovely, warm-hearted people.
However, in China today there are still many children who, for various reasons, cannot be cared for by their birth families. These children are cared for in Social Welfare Institutes (SWI) from which many are adopted internationally and, in recent years, domestically. Despite increasing improvements in orphanage care, we all know how much a child needs a family to love and care for them. Many families in rural areas struggle to care for their children, but just cannot afford the luxury of an education for their girls. Hope 4 China was set up in response to needs Iain and Linda Greenshields experienced when they adopted their daughter from Desheng SWI in Guangxi Province, China in June 2004. Thanks to the generosity of friends, family, local church, Rotary and businesses in Skye, Scotland, we were able to begin supporting 28 children in full time foster care in Guangxi Province, China – three in specialist care. We also supported 16 girls through different levels of education, this aspect of our work mainly done through Portree High, Portree Primary, Strathaven Academy & Back Primary schools in Scotland. Since then we have been able to revisit China each year to participate with the Education & Foster Care Programmes, building relationships and seeing the wonderful changes in so many lives. We are also now building links between Mary Russell School, Glasgow & Angel House, China for children with cerebral palsy. Now, in 2008, Hope4China is able to support over 60 children in Foster Care, and around 70 girls in Education. Our sponsors are a wonderful group of people who have helped to give Hope to so many of China's Children. The Chinese staff of Grace-Hope and Girls Global Education Fund work above and beyond the call of duty to change lives and give hope to these precious children.  We work principally in Guangxi province, in the south of China bordering on Vietnam. |

We are Iain & Linda Greenshields in Scotland, UK. We have five children; Alistair, Ross & Katie born in Scotland and Eilidh Fu Yi & Siona Rui Rui born in China.
In June 2004 our family travelled to Guangxi Province, China to bring home our daughter, Eilidh Fu Yi. All of our lives have been changed by the experience and we believe it has created a lasting bond between us and China. This was further cemented when we travelled in June 2008 to meet our daughter, Siona Rui Rui from Shandong province, thus completeing our family!!! Every time we look at our beautiful, lively and happy wee girls, we also remember their “sisters” in orphanages all over China, who are still waiting to be part of a warm, caring family home.
We were so impressed with Xiao Xiao’s work, we decided to do whatever we could to help. She told us about her vision to take children out of orphanages in Guangxi Province, and place them in loving Chinese homes. We decided to help, and soon friends, family and our church were offering to help. Thanks to the generosity and help of people who knew us, Hope 4 China was established in December 2004! Our aim is simply to provide funds and support to help get as many children as possible into warm, caring family homes in China.
